Yoga Therapy and Mindfulness for Chronic Pain, 8 week course(opens in new tab)
Chronic pain can affect people physically, psychologically (by affecting their thoughts, emotions and beliefs) and socially (through its effects on work, relationships, hobbies etc). Yoga therapy and mindfulness techniques can be used to gradually develop change in all these areas, by helping to reduce pain intensity and change your relationship to your pain, reconnect you to your body, decrease your nervous system arousal and help manage flare-ups. Whilst it may not be possible to get rid of the pain entirely, pain may be experienced differently, resulting in an improved quality of life. These techniques are suitable for most types of chronic pain, although for a more individualised approach to work with a specific chronic pain condition, one to one integrated yoga psychotherapy sessions may be more suitable.
